Choosing a manufacturing partner
What information should I provide before requesting a quote?
Start with your target market, expected quantity, product application, preferred dimensions, key equipment, target timing and reference products. If some decisions are open, identify them clearly so the factory can distinguish assumptions from confirmed requirements.
Can RVDwell support distributors, private-label brands and rental operators?
Yes. Each of these models begins with a different brief. A distributor may need a market-ready touring range, a private-label brand may need defined visual and equipment changes, and a rental operator may prioritize durable finishes, service access and repeatable handovers.
How do I choose between an existing platform and a more customized project?
Choose a proven platform when you want to validate a category quickly and its base specification fits your product application. Choose a more defined custom program when your route conditions, layout, systems, customer requirements or visual direction need more control.
OEM, ODM and product development
What is the difference between OEM and ODM travel trailer manufacturing?
OEM generally follows a buyer-led product brief with more defined requirements. ODM begins with a manufacturer platform and adapts approved options. Both need an agreed specification, feasibility review and change-control process before production release.
Can I customize the layout, exterior and equipment package?
Many projects can adapt layout options, exterior finish, interior materials and equipment packages. The factory should review each request for compatibility with structure, mass, systems, production sequence and future service access before confirming it.
What happens during sample or prototype review?
The review should compare the agreed configuration with the physical unit. Buyers normally check layout, access, finish, routine controls, service points and open items. Approved changes should be recorded with a clear owner and approval date.
Factory testing and quality
What should be checked during a travel trailer factory visit?
Follow the production flow rather than looking only at completed units. Review incoming material checks, chassis assembly, body build, electrical integration, sealing work, final inspection and shipment preparation. Ask how the factory records and closes nonconformances.
What does factory testing include?
The test scope is agreed around the project. It can include visual checks, water-intrusion checks, functional system checks and configuration verification. The evidence should relate to the approved product brief rather than a generic assurance statement.
Can I request a pre-shipment inspection?
Yes. The best time to agree the scope is before production begins. A project-appropriate inspection may include the approved configuration, visual condition, agreed functional checks, packing confirmation and photo records for shipment handover.
Shipment and project handover
What documents should be prepared before shipment?
The exact file depends on the project and destination market. Buyers often request an approved configuration list, inspection record, key system photos, packing details and loading photographs. Confirm any local compliance requirements with qualified advisors in your market.
How should I prepare for receiving the first shipment?
Set a receiving inspection plan before dispatch. Confirm who will review transit condition, what documents are needed, how issues will be reported and which installation preparation or staff training steps are required after delivery.
Can you help us create a clearer RV product brief?
Yes. Send your target market, intended use, expected quantity and reference product. We can help organize the initial requirements into a practical starting point for a platform discussion or quotation review.
